Young vejpers lie more often - but have worse grades

Young people who use e-cigarettes or cannabis have more sex than others. But they also have poorer grades and more often have difficulties at school. This is according to a Canadian research group.

The Canadian research team conducted a cross-sectional study comparing different risky behaviors within an age group. 30,000 young people in the United States were included in the study. The conclusion was that young people who have a hard time at school, to a greater extent than others, engage in risky behaviors in their free time. They smoke more often, vejpake more often, drink alcohol more often and enjoy cannabis.

"It is a sign that parents should pay attention to. At least we can see that this risky behavior is a signal that the young person has problems at school as well" says Dr. Nicholas Chadi, who led the study, to Montreal Gazette newspaper.

More sexual relationships for vejpare

However, the study cannot show a so-called causal link between e-cigarettes, cannabis and poor school performance. The study only shows that young people who vejpar or use cannabis also tend to have poorer grades. In contrast, the researchers link the behavior directly to the sexual life of young people.

"Young people who use cannabis or e-cigarettes are more likely to have up to three different sexual relationships in a period of three months," says Dr. Nicholas Chadi to the Montreal Gazette. "Not everyone uses e-cigarettes, but it's more common"

Young cannabis users are more likely to have sex without a condom, while those who only use nicotine are more likely to have drunken sex, the researchers note.

Risk behavior, smoking and e-cigarettes

Researchers have previously looked at how general risk behavior affects young people who choose to use nicotine. As Vejpkollen previously told us social belonging, home situation and psychological well-being are important factors for developing a risk behavior. A risk behavior together with several common background factors are likely to be the same, whether a young person starts smoking or vejpa.

"We can't really say what precedes the other, but the results show that young people who take risks in one area often do so in several other areas as well," says Dr. Nicholas Chadi.

The Canadian study was published in the journal Substance Use and Abuse in February 2020.

  1. What does it actually say?
    Nada!
It is probably possible to statistically prove that those who do not drink milk in their youth are more likely to become criminals or that those who eat pasta are more likely to have a lower pension.
Quasi-science that is surely paid for by big pharma or big tobacco.

  2. How was this study carried out?
One might think that it is the researcher who has smoked something he perhaps should not.
It's nothing new that young people are drawn to what is illegal.
Where did the comparison with traditional cigarettes go?
Sex is supposed to be good for your health.
Wine can also be good for your health.
Cannabis has a certain ability to be good for the health of some too.
So here we are, e-cigs vs traditional cigarettes.
    It's as clear as day.
What to choose healthy health or ill health. That is the only explanation.
